We are seeking a highly intuitive automated global ESG supplier management solution that solves for supplier data acquisition and provides an intelligent view of tier-n ESG supplier data and action plans, and that enables any business user that engages with suppliers to take sustainable business decisions and measure the impact.

Challenge details:

In collaboration with AstraZeneca Sustainable Procurement and the Procurement Digital Innovation Lab, we are committed to addressing the challenges of today to accelerate innovation and maximize our impact in this domain. Rooted in our unique approach, we concentrate on problem-solving to drive progress. Accordingly, we have clearly outlined the challenge – to unearth the most effective solutions for our needs.

We are seeking technology solutions to create a comprehensive global view of our suppliers’ ESG performance. Our ideal platform would be capable of intelligently and intuitively acquiring and interpreting multi-tiered supplier data. We’re particularly interested in solutions that not only offer an in-depth understanding of our suppliers’ ESG data and action plans but also provide actionable insights to facilitate sustainable business decisions. The capability to measure the impact of these decisions is an essential factor. We aim to enable any user across our business who interacts with suppliers (tiers 1-n) to drive ESG-focused outcomes confidently.

A key component of this program involves conducting a pilot to prove the value of the proposed solution, demonstrate leadership innovation, and assess the potential for co-location. By doing so, we aim to ensure that our initiatives are grounded in practical application and deliver tangible outcomes, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable and technological advancement in procurement.

Key Requirements:

  • The desired technology solution should feature a highly intuitive user experience (UX), seamlessly integrated with Single Sign-On (SSO) capabilities, simplifying secure user access.
  • It should offer robust visualization capabilities, dashboarding, and reporting functionalities to enable comprehensive data analysis and informed decision-making.
  • The technology solution needs to include advanced forecasting functionalities. This should consider factors such as the company’s carbon footprint and its long-term sustainability roadmap and proactive environmental strategies.
  • The solution should enable tracking of past to future ESG-scores and progress tracking.
  • The solution should provide the flexibility to easy configure multiple roles and workflows.
  • It is crucial that the system is adaptable to allow AstraZeneca to respond simply to changes in global, regional and local legislation. These could be either built-in or made accessible through APIs, ensuring adherence to current regulations without manual intervention.
  • API capabilities are a must to allow integration with minimum EcoVadis, SBTi, and CDP. This will provide the needed interoperability and extend the functionality of the platform.
  • Capability to integrate with ERP systems (such as SAP, Coupa, and S/4HANA).
  • The solution should support a wide range of languages to cover the needs of a global company. This should include, but is not limited to: English, Mandarin, Japanese, South Korean, Spanish and Portuguese, ensuring it can cater to diverse language requirements.
  • The solution should allow for different data sources, both in- and external.
  • Compliant with Security and Data Protection Laws (e.g GDPR).

Selection criteria:

  • The technology solution should provide comprehensive insights in ESG metrics and plans of the supplier base. This should encompass not just a global perspective, but also a regional and local lens, ensuring an in-depth understanding of all ESG facets across varying contexts.
  • The solution should be highly adaptable to the latest insights in the ESG sphere.
  • Supplier adherence to ESG principles is an important requirement, min. Ecovadis, SBTi, CDP and DE&I.

Subsequent to this process, the top candidate(s) may be invited to participate in a pilot program. This program provides an opportunity for them to showcase their solution, demonstrate their capabilities, and apply their technology within a real-world context.

Successful applicants will gain access to an expansive global network of interconnected businesses, potentially winning a new customer and the opportunity to scale their solution with a globally recognized player, contingent on a successful pilot.
